East San Fernando Valley, CA: Affiliate #158

Family Promise of East San Fernando Valley includes Burbank, Sun Valley, North Hollywood, Glendale, Toluca Lake and Eagle Rock. It becomes the fourth Affiliate in California and the first in greater Los Angeles.

Affiliate #157 Opens in Lycoming County, PA

Family Promise of Lycoming County is located in Williamsport, PA (birthplace of Little League and home of the Little League World Series). It becomes our 10th network in the Keystone State. Williamsport is not a large city, with 30,000 residents and Lycoming County overall has a population of only about 100,000. But a United Way study identified 76 homeless families in the county and no shelters to house them.

Family Promise of Washington County becomes our fifth network in the state of Wisconsin. Washington County is in the greater Milwaukee area, about an hour from downtown, but is predominantly rural in nature. There are no existing services for families in the county of 117,000 residents.

Long Island has a huge discrepancy between wages and housing costs—an individual would have to work 169 hours a week at minimum wage to afford a two-bedroom apartment at market rate.

Welcome to Family Promise of Anderson County, SC

Anderson, SC is the home of our sixth network in the Palmetto State. Anderson County has only one program for homeless families, and their five school districts average 150 homeless students each.

Family Promise convened in Orlando from
April 30-May 2, 2010 for Dare to Dream, their national conference celebrating successes and exploring ways to continue meeting the challenges they face in their local communities. 2009 was an especially tough year for struggling families-unemployment peaked at over 10% and more families found themselves without homes than anytime since the Great Depression.

Welcome to Odessa, Texas: Affiliate Number 152

Affiliate #151: Family Promise of Casper, Wyoming

Casper is now home to the second network in the state of Wyoming. It becomes the 16th and final network to open nationwide in 2009.
