Community Partners

We couldn't do it without our partners. Without them, we would never have been able to strengthen as many families as we have. To accomplish our work, we depend on generous supporters who invest in the future of low-income families.

The heart of every affiliate is its volunteers. They donate food, shelter, support services, goods, labor, and time. Volunteers share meals with guests. They tutor children; share contacts for jobs and housing; help guests prepare for job interviews; and much, much more. They treat guests with compassion and respect. They listen. They care.

Within each IHN, thirteen cooperating congregations, involving about 1,000 volunteers, take turns, in a weekly rotation, providing homeless guests with safe and comfortable quarters and meals in houses of worship.

Local Businesses
Local businesses provide services to IHN guests, including legal counseling, health care, and financial advice. They donate clothing, furniture, and even cars and vans.

Foundations and Philanthropic Organizations
Our work has been supported by grants from many local, regional and national foundations.

We partner with Habitat for Humanity International and Catholic Charities USA at both the national and local levels, and we work with organizations such as the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY).

Family Promise has partnered with some of the nation's leading companies to invest in the promise of America's families.  Corporate partnerships with Family Promise offer companies many meaningful opportunities to give back to their communities.

Benefits Beyond Measure

Our partners have enabled us to serve more homeless and low-income families than ever before. They enable us to leverage existing resources to see that families regain independence quickly and cost-effectively, saving communities tens of millions of dollars in service costs annually. At every level of partnership, the return on their investment is the immeasurable value of keeping families together, maintaining children in their schools, and providing communities a way to solve their own problems locally.
